Since Hearthstone Mean Streets of Gadgetzan was revealed back at Blizzcon, we?ve been introduced to some pretty crazy cards. From Priest?s resurgence with Raza the Unchained and Dragonfire Potion, to other surefire all-stars like Hunter?s Rat Pack and Druid?s Jade Idol, this set is increasing the power level considerably.
Will Shaman Stay At The Top In Hearthstone Mean Streets of Gadgetzan?
But is this new Shaman card the best of the bunch? Say hello to Devolve. This wacky new card is the inverse of Evolve, another similarly hyped card that debuted in Whispers of the Old Gods earlier this year. Evolve-based decks never got off the ground due to the extreme randomness of the card?s effect.
Right off the bat, Devolve looks like it will be a lot more playable than its older sibling. For just two mana, you can severely weaken your opponent?s board state, leaving his minions open to favourable trades or a five-mana board clear when comboed together with Lightning Storm. Devolve?s effect is also devastating against Deathrattle-based decks, acting as a sort of mass hex that neutralizes whatever death effects the original minions had. Getting a Sylvanas or Cairne devolved into a worthless five-drop is definitely a rage-quit worthy scenario. Anyfin Paladins are also screwed if an Enemy Shaman manages to devolve their murlocs.
Like any RNG heavy card, Devolve can backfire, ?the obvious scenario of a 3-drop devolving into a Doomsayer being the most painful outcome. Regardless, we predict that the reward will outweigh the risk most of the time.
Will this card be a must-play for Shamans in the new Mean Streets of Gadgetzan meta? Or is it too situational and random to become a force? We?ll have to wait until the full set is revealed to find out.?For more Hearthstone news, keep it right here on TheBitBag.
