While developer Activision has been cashing-in on fans with successful Call of Duty games every year, Valve has long been mum about a sequel for their popular FPS titles: Left 4 Dead 3 and Half Life 3.?Hope for these two sequels have been given birth anew as rumors points that Valve will release the cooperative multiplayer zombie game in 2017 while we get to play as?Gordon Freeman again in the following year.
Take heed that all details below are only rumors and have not yet been confirmed by official sources.
Half Life Is Purposely Being Stalled
?According to the ex-staff of Valve Corporation, ?Half Life 3? is currently not in active development and not because the company is taking it slow as per recent reports,? the report said. ?Apparently, Valve is intentionally stalling the development of ‘Left 4 Dead 3’, which it plans to release first.”
Further rumors hint that a LFD3 game is being prioritized. According to Day Herald, presentation slides of LFD3 were shown using Valve?s Source 2 Engine which will allow for better visuals and gameplay. While it has not yet been announced, HLF3 might also use Source 2 Engine as Half-Life 2 used the original Source Engine.
The new Engine will surely look spectacular as the original Source Engine still holds up-to today?s standards. Here are some of the games that use the original Source Engine according to Polygon:
- Counter-Strike: Source
- Half-Life 2
- Left 4 Dead series
- Dear Esther
- The Stanley Parable
Gamers have long been anticipating ?HLF3 after the game was heavily teased by a cliffhanger ending in Half Life 2 Episode 2. Fans, however, have been left in the dark after Valve Boss Gabe Newell teased the game countless times whilst giving no official announcement that the game is in development. Valve has also debunked rumors last month that the game will never be released, giving fans hope that they may still see a sequel.
Left 4 Dead 3 New Characters
According to Segment Next, L4D3 will be taking place both at the start of the infection as well as a month after the infection occurs. The report said there will be two ?black? male characters, a ?stereotypical 24 year old white woman?, and a ?stereotypical buffed-up guy?.
There will be six campaigns: Crash-land, Impasse, Inquisitor Land, Early Destination, Cliff-Hanger and No Mercy, Segment Next reported.
