Despite being released more than 4 months ago, Grand Theft Auto 5 (of Rockstar Games / developed by Rockstar North) or more popularly referred to as GTA5 continues to be the most popular video game for cross-platform consoles (Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3). This is not only proven by trending statistics on the internet, but by word of mouth among ?teens? to older gamers. Being a ?mere? moderate gamer myself (and usually limited to the Batman Xbox 360 titles), I had to consult a few user experts (in this case, my nephews who are ?legally? of age to own and play GTA5) as well as some gaming sites to figure out the staying power of GTA 5.
Since GTA 5 was launched in September 2013, my crew of gaming ?experts? swear that no game, to date, has even come close in matching the experience that GTA5 brings.
But , what really is GTA5 all about for those who have not yet immersed themselves in the city of Los Santos.

Various gaming sites provides a very enticing description of the game. It talks about ?self-help gurus? and celebrities (including so called starlets) occupying the large sunny city of Los Santos. The city of Los Santos is described as a once admired metropolis of the Western civilized world. Unfortunately (or rather fortunately), players will find Los Santos in a deteriorating state, full of chaos and criminals and so forth. In this scenario, three interesting characters emerge ? Franklin, Michael and Trevor. Trevor is described as a violence-prone maniac that is motivated by drug induced stupors and promising heists. Franklin is an ex-gangster looking for a big payday and Michael is a former convict who is hopeful for a better ?retirement life?. With these three desperate characters, the game brings you to non-stop dangerous and explosive situations.
So what do the critics have to say?

X One Magazine UK says that ?GTA V is funny, genuinely laugh out loud funny ? and not in a shoving a ten-inch purple dildo up your arse? funny ? the humour is told through situation, through incredibly clever writing and wonderful sense of place. Really, that says everything you need?
Xbox 360 Acheivements raves that ? Memorable missions, barnstorming heists, amusing side objectives and an almost impossibly immersive world to explore, make for the best Grand Theft Auto since Vice City and San Andreas.?
Quarter To Three opines that ?The primary accomplishment in Grand Theft Auto V isn?t gameplay. It?s character. Grand Theft Auto V believes so strongly in its characters that everything else ? even gameplay ? is secondary.?
From Official Xbox magazine – ?From skydiving and submarine exploration to bounty-hunting and watching animated shorts, GTA V is absolutely crammed full of things to do, and it looks amazing while you do them.?
And last but not least, The Escapist thinks that ?It is the difference between The Godfather Part 1 and Part 2, between Inglorious Basterds and Triumph of the Will, and between Just Cause 2 and JFK Reloaded. In the former examples, the audience can get behind the anti-heroes depicted for whatever reason and condone their admittedly awful actions, but in the latter group, the subject matter or the protagonist’s morals are skewed too far from the norm to be comfortably witnessed. That’s what it’s like to play Grand Theft Auto V. The three men you take control of throughout the game aren’t even anti-heroes. They’re just scumbags.
To know about GTA V. Rockstar has spent five years, and an insane amount of money, building a game that is not only bold enough to step away from expectation, but brave enough to revel in its combined history as well.?
The popularity of GTA5 may well be on an extended run since the PC version is soon to be released. This critically praised ?open-world? game has recently been listed in Amazon.com France and is available for pre-ordering. Watch our for this and other GTA5 and video gaming news here at The Bitbag.
