There is a rumor spreading among the gaming community that Rockstar Games will release GTA VI in 2017. The rumor is being based on an alleged report that pre-orders for GTA V on the next generation platforms are starting to wind down.
According to the rumor mill, Rockstar made the GTA VI announcement during the E3 event. This rumor turns out to be unfounded, since the actual announcement was about the upcoming release of GTA V for the next generation consoles.
It is unclear how this rumor got started but there is a possibility that some gamers may have lost interest in playing GTA V.
The fifth installment of the Grand Theft Auto series was first release in 2013 for the gaming platforms Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. GTA V was a commercial success and has also garnered several awards from various gaming publications.?The game was praised for its unique design and gameplay but it was also criticized for its graphic portrayal, violence and mistreatment of women.
GTA V may be already showing its age which is why Rockstar is releasing an updated version for the next generation platforms like PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Grand Theft Auto Online even received a new DLC pack in celebration of Independence Day.
Since the E3 announcement, the company has been heavily promoting GTA V?s release this coming fall. There has not been a single mention of anything related to a possible GTA VI release on ?the company?s website.
Based on the high level of interest shown by the gaming community on the vastly improved GTA V, it is quite doubtful that Rockstar will do anything to dampen the current enthusiasm for the current GTA version.
While there is no truth to the rumor, it is more than likely that Rockstar will soon release a GTA VI. If and when the next installment will come out may largely depend on the staying power and popularity of GTA V.
For now, gamers should enjoy the GTA V?s current and updated version at least until GTA VI comes along.
