While there are plenty of GTA Online updates, there hasn’t been enough large expansions to spice up the game. While the online portion of Grand Theft Auto 5 continues to be a big hit, some have speculated that it might stop receiving new content soon. Now that the company is working on Red Dead Revolver 2, that might be a possibility.
Working on an online title like GTA Online is a lot of work, some of which could be used in the Western sequel. Though the online game could still be running by the time the new game comes out, one has to think that the multiplayer days of GTA are numbered. After all, there’s a good chance that we’ll see Red Dead multiplayer as well.
A New Online Hit?
Given how popular Westworld is right now, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise to see Red Dead Redemption 2 replace Grand Theft Auto 5’s multiplayer. However, it’s doubtful that we will see a GTA Online update after the sequel to the hit Western game comes out. Sure, there might be a patch that fixes a bug here or there, but new content is doubtful.
Then again, an article from IBTimes stated that the online world of GTA would continue if fans still support it. Since the game does still have a lot of fans and the game helps Rockstar earn a lot of money, it might be around for quite sometime. Perhaps it will live through the Red Dead hype and continue on. It seems like Grand Theft Auto 6 will end this incarnation of GTA Online.
More Updates To Go?
Since Red Dead Redemption 2 won’t come out till 2017, there’s still plenty of time for new?GTA Online updates?to bring new content. With a few holidays coming soon, there’s a good chance that Rockstar will have some events for players that are still in the game.
GTA Online is a part of Grand Theft Auto 5 and is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. While the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions also have online support, they won’t be receiving any new updates. ?
