Grey’s Anatomy Season 13?is all about bringing a new kind of medical drama series to its viewers, but there is also one thing that showrunner Shonda Rhimes wants to keep, and that?s the original cast that has remained faithful to the show. The new season will still feature Meredith (Ellen Pompeo), Dr. Bailey (Chandra Wilson), Alex (Justin Chambers) and Richard Webber (James Pickens Jr.)
In a statement by Rhimes featured on TV Guide, she said, ?After such a long period of time and so many new people coming in and out, they remain the foundational characters of the show. We’re gonna be spending some more time with them to check in with where they are. The way that we spent time with Meredith last season, exploring the major shift in her life, the loss of Derek, I think we can expect to see those doctors being explored where they are in this moment, all these years later, the changes that they’ve gone through.”
If anything else, according to TV Guide, the possibility of the characters of Izzie (Katherine Heigl) and Cristina (Sandra Oh) returning is likely.
Meanwhile, Grey’s Anatomy Season 13?spoilers reveal the love triangle involving half sisters Meredith, Maggie and Nathan (Martin Henderson). The first few episodes of the series will also feature the life of Jackson (Jesse Williams) and April (Sarah Drew). Meanwhile, rumors about Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) and her husband Dr. Owen (Kevin McKidd) having a baby was previously debunked by the actress, saying there isn?t anything on the script that says she will get pregnant.
More importantly, Rhimes wants to establish the relationships of the old characters in the show. Can we expect some old characters (who didn?t die) to return on the show and have a proper closure? That should be fun and exciting, but for now, Rhimes views the old characters as something they can confidently work on. ?Those characters are so rich and they have so much meaning for our audience. I think it’ll be wonderful to spend some more time with them,” she said.
