Gretchen Carlson, the former news anchor with Fox News Channel has file a sexual harassment case against Roger Ailes, the chairman and CEO of the company. Fresh information suggest that Ailes has fired back by filing a lawsuit against Carlson. Meanwhile, the parent company of Fox is now carrying an internal review on the issue.

On Wednesday, Carlson, 50, had filed a suit in New Jersey Superior Court. On June 23, she was stopped from hosting her 2 p.m. show ?The Real Story.? She has stated in the sexual harassment lawsuit that she was removed because she ?refused to sleep? with Ailes. She has also complained about disparaging treatment at the workplace.

According to Ailes, Carlson has made false allegations against him. He has stated that she has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit because the company is not ready to renew her contract. Her ?disappointingly low ratings? caused the news channel to terminate her from hosting the afternoon news show.

Ailes further stated that when Fox News did not renew her contract, Carlson realized that her career with the news company was likely over. Hence, she has conveniently filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against him.

He said that the network ?provided her with more on-air opportunities over her 11-year tenure than any other employer in the industry, for which she thanked me in her recent book.” He ended his statement by saying that ?this defamatory lawsuit is not only offensive, it is wholly without merit and will be defended vigorously.”

Carlson has also stated that she also suffered pervasive harassment from Steve Doocy who co-hosted Fox & Friends with her until 2013. However, Doocy is not a defendant in the lawsuit filed by Carlson.

A recent tweet from her states she had spoken about sexual harassment at workplace before filing the lawsuit through her story that was published on Huffington Post in June this year. However, the story does not mention any direct allegations against Ailes.

In her lawsuit, she has mentioned that Ailes made ?sexual advances by various means.? She has also revealed that in September 2015 Ailes said to her that, ?I think you and I should have had a sexual relationship a long time ago and then you’d be good and better and I’d be good and better,? CNN reported.
