GamesCom 2016 is finally here and rumors are that either Grand Theft Auto 6 or Red Dead Redemption could be featured at the upcoming event in Cologne, Germany.

Rockstar Games, the famed developer behind both the super-hit titles, did not officially reveal anything, but a recent fiscal report from Rockstar? parent publisher, Take-Two Interactive, has fueled the rumors.

The report stated, ?Rockstar Games also is hard at work on some exciting future projects that will be revealed soon.?

The sequel to 2010?s Red Dead Redemption is first on the list and reports suggest the game could make it to PS4 and Xbox consoles by year-end 2016. Rockstar Games is expected to unveil the first look trailer for Red Dead Redemption 2, which was previously expected at E3 2016. Rumors even suggest that to build the hype the previous game could be made available for free to the Xbox Games with Gold September lineup.

Red Dead Redemption 2

The GTA V was one of the biggest titles from Rockstar and speculations are rife that the developer may finally set the release date for their next big title at Gamescom 2016. Grand Theft Auto VI is already said to be in early stages of development though it isn?t expected to be released well before 2018 and could even take even longer to release by 2020.

GTA VI Gameplay Rumors

It is widely believed that GTA 6 will launch alongside next generation consoles, possibly the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Two. Others hope for a VR title from game developers as virtual reality has become the next big thing in gaming. WIth Grand Theft Auto being based on real life cities, it could fit perfectly with VR and give even more realistic gameplay.

GTA VI remains one of the most speculated titles and there are several theories out as to which city the next game will be based on. There have been rumors all around that the next title is set either in London, England or Tokyo, Japan.

TechRadar, however, thinks the developers would stick to a city in the United States as mapping London or Tokyo is not financially viable for them. Indeed, it would also pose a problem for game?s minor details such as driving rules, to popular brands seen on the street. The new game therefore is expected to be based on a U.S. city and Oklahoma seems to be high on the game?s preference since it is considered as one of the most dangerous urban areas in the country.
