Sony announced that Gran Turismo Sport will be released this coming October in North America. However, Microsoft’s racing title, Forza Motorsport 7, will also be released in the same month. Console racing fans are sure to be hyped this coming Fall.
As posted on the PlayStationBlog, Polyphony Digital president and Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi revealed that Gran Turismo Sport will be released this October 17. Yamauchi promises that they’ll announce more about the title in the coming months.
Due to its October announcement, Gran Turismo Sport will face off with Microsoft exclusive Forza Motorsport 7, which is going to be released earlier in October 3. It’s been a while since both games have seen a new entry in the series.
Before these two racing games clash, Ubisoft will already have released Project Cars 2 on September 22. Outside these two racing games, October will also be a month of good game releases. Alternatively, Middle-earth: Shadow of War, The Evil Within 2, South Park: The Fractured But Whole, Assassin’s Creed Origins, and WWE 2K18 will also be released in the month. Console players will have more than these two entries to choose from.
Strong titles will also sandwich Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport 7’s release. Destiny 2 will be released a month earlier than these two games. Lastly, Call of Duty World War 2, Need for Speed Payback, and Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be released in November.
As Yamauchi continues in the announcement, Gran Turismo Sport is said to have an “unprecedented experience” in terms of graphics, sound, and physics simulation. However, Gamespot confirms that the title has dropped its dynamic time and weather feature. Instead of changing skies, players can pick a time and weather setting before the race starts. This feature was left out to optimize frame rates and graphics quality.
We’ll have to wait and see how Gran Turismo fares in both sales and reviews come Octobre 17. For more gaming news, make sure to check out The BitBag.
