Google I/O Developer Conference has been so productive ?with the number of developments and announcements that Google had shared, which made every Google fan, and many developers happy, and excited, at the same time.
What?s more interesting aside from the Android 5.0 L, Android TV, Android TV Apps, new version of Google Search, Android wear, and the like, is the fact that Google has?opened?a new platform?that lets users control their fitness data ? the Google Fit.
?Google Fit lets developers build smarter apps and manufacturers focus on creating amazing devices,? the official Google developers? website said (https://developers.google.com/fit/).
The website also announced:
The Google Fit SDK
New APIs to make building fitness apps and devices easier.
The Google Fit SDK will be available in fall of 2014.
So if you want to be notified of the SDK?s availability, sign up at https://developers.google.com/fit/ to get information about Google Fit.
Google Fit which was previewed at the conference yesterday will be worked on by a range of manufacturers which include Nike, Adidas, Polar, Runtastic, Withings, Runkeeper, LG, HTC, Asus, and Motorola.
Be reminded that Google Fit can only give comprehensive results if you?d allow it to do so. How? ?So if a user grants permission, apps can have access to a user?s entire fitness stream to give better recommendations through this additional context,? Google said.
This move by Google is similar to what Apple has ? the Healthkit.
It could be remembered that Apple launched their healthkit a few weeks ago. Apple?s health kit is an entirely new way to use your health and fitness information.
?The new Health app gives you an easy-to-read dashboard of your health and fitness data. And we?ve created a new tool for developers called HealthKit, which allows all the incredible health and fitness apps to work together, and work harder, for you. It just might be the beginning of a health revolution,? Apple said.
