Come October 4, the Google Pixel and Pixel XL will be officially launched in San Francisco. These Pixel variants were formerly known as Nexus 2016 handsets. Google, however, changed the brand name, perhaps because the company exhausted all the number combinations under the Nexus series.
These Pixel variants will apparently bring in design as well as software innovations. Not to forget, this series will be running Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box.
Design-wise, the devices have been rumored to come with a metallic exterior. However, if we go by the leaked photos, the back panel covering the camera unit gives the look of plastic and glass.
Reports say the search giant will be offering three different color combinations: Aluminum, Black and Bright Blue. Apart from the Google Store, Verizon will also be offering this lineup in the U.S.
Google Pixel, Pixel XL Price
Google?s phones are not going to be affordable anymore. With the new brand name, design and configuration change, the search giant will also be upping the price tag.
Recent?reports suggest that one of the Pixel XL variants will be priced at $650. This amount roughly translates to ?500. However, no one knows if this price pertains to the 32GB base variant or the rumored 128GB variant. The flagship Google Pixel, on the other hand, is believed to cost relatively lesser.
Google Pixel, Pixel XL Specs, Features
The Google Pixel with 5.0-inch display and Pixel XL with 5.5-inch display are being built by HTC. While the flagship is believed to carry 1,920 x 1,080 pixels screen resolution, the bigger sibling will apparently flaunt a QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 pixels.
Under the hood, Qualcomm?s Snapdragon 820 processor will power these devices with 4GB of RAM backing it. There will apparently be no 16GB internal storage choice this time around. Instead, expect 32GB and 128GB options.
To top it off, the Pixel and Pixel XL will reportedly sport either a 12 or 13-megapixel rear-facing camera unit, in addition to an 8-megapixel front-facing snapper for selfies and video chats.
Battery-wise, the flagship Google Pixel will apparently come housed with a modest 2,770 mAh battery cell. The Pixel XL variant, on the other hand, will feature a generous 3,450mAh cell.
Furthermore, the fingerprint scanner will be embedded on the back of the device. Apart from the standard connectivity options, this series will also support Type C USB port.
