The Google Pixel and Pixel XL, formerly known as ?Nexus 2016 handsets,? are gearing up for release in October. Thanks to many leaks and rumors, we have an idea of what to expect from Google. However, now, a slew of alleged photos of the handsets are making waves online.
This time around, the leaks show a white Google Pixel photographed alongside a Google Pixel XL. While the Pixel will feature a 5-inch display complemented by 1080p resolution, the Pixel XL will carry a 5.5-inch display and a Quad HD screen resolution.
Going by the photos, both handsets look similar except for the obvious size difference. The main camera unit at the back has an LED flash. You cannot miss the round fingerprint scanner embedded on the back of the handset. Also, there is a white antenna line towards the top and bottom of the phone.
While the power and volume buttons are on the right side of the device, the USB Type-C port is located at the bottom. The flagship Google Pixel and the bigger variant Pixel XL are being built by HTC. Design-wise, rumors point to a metallic exterior.
The leaked photos show metal usage, but it is not a unibody design like the HTC 10. This is because a part of the rear enclosing the camera and fingerprint scanner looks like it is made of glass/plastic.
If the rumors come true, the upcoming Google devices will carry a Sony IMX179 camera complete with an 8MP sensor at the front. The primary camera at the back, or one of the lenses in the case of dual-camera setup, will apparently make use of Sony?s IMX378 with a 12MP sensor. The Nexus 5X and 6P come housed with a Sony IMX179 camera unit.
Past rumors and benchmark listings noted that the Pixel and Pixel XL will come powered by Qualcomm?s Snapdragon 820 processor. Software-wise, these devices will run the next-version Android 7.1 Nougat out of the box. It is worth mentioning that the LG V20 is the first device to run the major version Android 7.0 Nougat.
Speaking of price, rumor has it that the starting price of the Google Pixel (or Google Pixel XL) could be $649.
