By on

Last September, famous leakster Evan Blass let slip that Google is making another tablet set to release this year. According to Blass, this new tablet will be made by Huawei and will be released just before the end of 2016. Many have speculated that this will be the next Google Nexus 7 2016.

However, last month, Google made a switch to Pixel as its new brand for a ?Made by Google? device. This led many to believe that the rumored tablet will also have the same Pixel branding in it.

Last October, Google unveiled the Pixel phone to the world. Along with it, the company also showcased new products like the Google Home and an updated Chromecast device. However, some people left the event thinking about the rumored tablet that the company is supposed to release as well.
According to the rumor mill, this tablet will feature the same SoC processor as the Pixel phone. The newest Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 that powers new and upcoming devices will make its way to this new tablet. In addition to a top-draw processor, it will also have a 4GB RAM and 64GB of storage.

However, instead of running the new Android 7.0 Nougat, the purported tablet will come with the new Andromeda OS. The Andromeda OS is basically an operating system being developed by Google for hybrid laptop-tablet devices. The OS will merge Chrome OS and Android in one hefty package taking only the best features of both OS. According to reports, Andromeda will offer the flexibility found in mobile devices while maintaining a sensible filing system. It will also support adaptive touch gesture found on common tablet and laptop hybrids.

Unfortunately, this is where everything gets blurry. According to Blass, the supposed Google Nexus 7 tablet will release before the end of 2016. On the other hand, the Andromeda OS is set to be unveiled sometime in 2017. These two do not correlate at all. However, it is only the middle of November. A lot of things can still happen in the span of 45 days. If Google is indeed releasing a new Nexus device this year, perhaps fans are willing to wait a bit longer.
