The Google Nexus 2016 release could be happening soon based on the numerous discounts being given to its predecessors. One recent promo was for the Google Nexus 5X, which is currently available in Ebay for only $199.99.

The sale offers a Carbon colored Nexus 5X 16 GB version for only $199.99, slashing 40% off the regular price. Buyers can also save $160 when they buy the 32 GB version for only $239.99.

The handset will be among the initial devices to get Android 7.0 Nougat on release day. This makes the

Prior to Android Authority spotting the limited time offer, other current Nexus devices have also been placed on several promos.

All the discounts have led to speculations that Google is making way for the launch of its newest devices.

However, rumors about the approaching Google Nexus 2016 release were also fueled because of a video that was shared by the company itself.

Earlier this weekend, the tech giant shared an Instagram clip for its Google Photos app for iOS and Android. At the end of the video, an iOS pops up on the screen along with a never-before-seen phone with a 2.5D curved glass on its face.

The device in the Instagram video is believed to be one of the Google Nexus 2016 variants: the HTC Sailfish.

The handset will reportedly be launched alongside the HTC Marlin, which is the phablet successor to the Nexus 6P. Marlin will have a sleek metallic design and cutting-edge specs similar to Sailfish. However, the latter will have a plastic body.

Another recent leak showed a tightly cropped actual photo of the HTC Marlin. Even though only the screen can be seen, it confirmed that the new device will run on Android Nougat.

Earlier in July, a teaser also revealed the rumored specs of the HTC Marlin and Sailfish. The clip showed details about its cameras, displays, processors, storage capacities, and battery. With so much information about the features, many believe that the Google Nexus 2016 release is already set.
