In the previous month, the rumor mill revealed the full specifications of the upcoming Google Nexus 2016 Marlin smartphone. It will be releasing soon to replace the Google Nexus 6P from 2015. Here is a comparison of specifications, features, price and release date based on recent rumors to know whether to buy the Nexus 6P or wait for the Nexus 2016 Marlin.
Design and Display
The Nexus 2016 Marlin, a product from HTC, will be coming with a full metal unibody design. A render based on the rumored specs of the smartphone has revealed its neat design.It suggests that even though the smartphone will feature an aluminum chassis, its rear panel will have a dedicate plastic housing for camera and fingerpint reader.
The dimensions of the smartphone have not been revealed, but it is expected to slimmer and lighter than Nexus 6P. Unlike previous rumors, its design won?t be similar to HTC 10. The Huawei Nexus 6P also sports a full metallic chassis. It measures 159.3 x 77.8 x 7.3 mm. It is a bit heavy as it weighs 178 grams.
The Nexus 6P has a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED screen that offers Quad HD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. Speculations suggest that the Marlin 2016 will come with 5.5-inch Super LCD 5 display, and it will also support Quad HD resolution.
Chipset, RAM and Storage
The Google Nexus 2016 Marlin is heavily pegged to be fueled by Snapdragon 821 chipset. It is expected to supported either by 4GB or 6GB of RAM. It is expected to be available in two storage models of 32GB and 128GB. HTC is known for offering microSD card slots on its flagship devices. Hence, the smartphone may come with an external storage support.
The Snapdragon 810 chipset and 3GB of RAM powers the Nexus 6P smartphone. It is available in three storage choices like 32GB, 64GB and 128GB. It does not feature a microSD card slot.
Camera, Software and Other Features
The Marlin 2016 is expected to arrive with an enhanced version of the 12.3-megapixels that sits on the backside of Nexus 6P. Like its predecessor, it is also expected to feature a selfie shooter of 8-megapixel.
The Nexus 6P was released with Android 6.0 Marshmallow pre-installed. Since Google always releases its Nexus smartphones with the newest version of Android OS, the Nexus 2016 Marlin is expected with Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
The upcoming Nexus flagship will be arriving with a USB Type-C and dual speakers on its front panel. These features are also available on Nexus 6P. The Nexus 6P has a battery of 3,450 mAh capacity. Its successor is likely to house a larger battery.

The Nexus 6P was launched in October 2015, but the rumors suggest that the Google Nexus 2016 release date will be scheduled earlier this year. Hence, the Marlin smartphone is speculated to be released as early as next month.
