As Goblin comes closer to its finale episode, its ratings are beginning to soar even higher. With the way things are going, it might even surpass Reply 1988 very soon.
Reply 1988 generated an 18.6% viewer ratings, which is so far the highest one recorded in the history of tvN dramas. But Nielsen Korea calculated an average viewer rating of 15 percent with 17.2 as its highest for the recent episode of Goblin. This is 1.8 percent higher from last week’s ratings.
Right now, Goblin‘s viewer ratings is only 1.4 percent less than Reply 1988‘s highest viewer ratings. And if Goblin‘s viewer continuously increase up until it’s season finale, it is very possible that it can outrun Reply 1988‘s record per koreaportal.com.

Goblin’s Power Cast
Goblin also has a power cast to boot. Topping the list of the hit drama series are Lee Dong-wook, Gong Yoo, Yoo In-na, Kim Go-eun, and Yook Sung-jae. There are also cameo appearances from Jung Hae-in, Kim So-hyun, and Kim Min-jae.
Initially, the Korean drama received criticisms because of its theme. Kim Go-eun plays the love interest of a middle-aged man, Gong Yoo. Kim Go Eun is just in senior high school. But when viewers realized how good and unique the concept really is, it looked like they were here to stay per yibada.com.
Kim Eun-sook penned the story along with other hit tv series such as The Heirs in 2013 and Descendants of the Sun last year. This is Lee Eun-bok and Kim Eun-sook’s second collaboration after the massive hit DOTS.
Goblin revolves around Gong Yoo, a 939-year-old Goblin who’s looking for a bride to help him end his immortality. Only she can draw the sword from his chest which will finally end his life. In the process, he met a grim reaper who doesn’t have any recollection about his past, played by Lee Dong-wook. Kim Go-eun, the high school student, will end up being his bride to be.
