Gintama Live Action Film Update: Already in the Works, Meet Its Cast Here!

The Gintama live action film is sure to happen in 2017. The news has been confirmed through the 31st issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine. A film adaptation of Hideaki Sorachi’s Gintama manga brought excitement to many fans.

Following this announcement, the cast for the Gintama live action film was introduced. Shun Oguri was picked for the role of the main protagonist named Sakata. Y?ichi Fukuda, on the other hand, was tasked to direct the film and take care of its script.

It was previously reported that the principal photography for the Gintama film started in July 2016. It looks like the project will just be on time for its target launch date next year.

Aside from Oguri, other actors that will have roles in the highly anticipated Gintama live action movie were also introduced. They are the following:

  • Masaki Suda as Shinpachi Shimura.
  • Kanna Hashimoto as Kagura.
  • Masami Nagasawa as Tae Shimura.
  • Masaki Okada as Kotaro Katsura.
  • Tsuyoshi Muro as Gengai Hiraga.
  • Y?ya Yagira as Toshiro Hijikata.
  • Ryo Yoshizawa as Sougo Okita.
  • And Kankuro Nakamura VI as Isao Kondo.

Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump Hints At Gintama Film

Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine previously teased fans about the arrival of a Gintama live action film in its previous issue. Avid fans know that the original Gintama manga is serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Sh?nen Jump manga magazine.

It was further stated that the Warner Bros. Entertainment, Inc will serve as the registrant on a “Gintama-Film.com” domain name.

Gintama manga started in Japan in 2004. Since then, it was considered as one of the top-selling manga in its home country. For fans that are non-Japanese, Viz Media was kind enough to publish the well-loved manga in English. Gintama manga?s first 23 volumes can be enjoyed by fans from different parts of the world since they were given an English translation.

Currently, the Gintama manga already has 64 volumes. Shueisha has recently published its latest volume in Japan on May 2.
