Scarlett Johansson is trailing a totally different track, set in a different place and time. But that?s not what highlights the Ghost in the Shell trailer. First off, the controversy of a white female playing the lead role in a Japanese anime series didn?t quite sit well with the fans. It also sparked the allegations of whitewashing in Hollywood. Despite the uproar, Johansson?s casting in the movie still continued.
But did you know that other than her previously talked about ?naked? suit is a much more complex and controversial scene in Ghost in the Shell Trailer? If you haven?t seen the trailer, which is included in this article, you might want to watch a bit more for Major?s (Scarlett Johansson) steamy LGBT scene.
Ghost in the Shell LGBT scene
Fans of Ghost in the Shell manga should know that the American version of the anime series indicates that Major?s sexuality is another story that still baffles fans. But in the manga series, Major?s lesbian acts, according to a statement by Masamune in the back of the manga collection, is actually a ?side business.? They call it ?e-sex,? a very lucrative, but illegal business in Ghost in the Shell. The original manga describes the lesbian act as ?Major?s portrayal differs from that of the movie. She has a much more slapstick, vivacious, and sexy personality. She participates in a lesbian sex splash panel and has a boyfriend. The in-universe explanation for the lesbian sex panel seems to be that cyborgs of the same gender are especially compatible.?
In Ghost in the Shell S.A.C. 2nd GIG Episode 17 “DI Mother and Child – RED DATA,? the sexual tension is tangible and highly suggestive. But like any other Japanese stories, it didn?t quite detail the scene, except for the scenes cutting to the next one.
Aside from Scarlett Johansson, other cast members of Ghost in the Shell include Pilou Asb?k (Batou), Michael Pitt (Laughing Man), Juliette Binoche (Dr. Ouelete) and ?Kaori Momoi as Django. For more Ghost in the Shell news and update, make sure to read us here on TheBitBag.
