On August 12, The Get Down series premiered on Netflix. It was on the same day when the soundtrack was released.
Baz Luhrmann’s much awaited Netflix debut, The Get Down, brings back a mix of 70?s, 80?s and 90?s feel. It includes songs from Shameik Moore and Herizen Guardiola. There are also exclusive tunes from Zayn, Christina Aguilera, Leon Bridges and many others.
The Get Down Soundtrack mainly tells the birth of hip-hop in the 70?s. It also features some disco classics from Nas, Miguel, Kamasi Washington and others. Some songs from the show that can?t be heard on The Get Down Soundtrack include the following:

Earth, Wind & Fire ? Shining Star
Can ? Vitamin C (2004 Remaster)
La Lupe ? El Carbonero

As for the series, its first episode lasted for almost 90 minutes. Luhrmann displayed a classic visual and aural taste. The colors, sounds and the overall vibe of the show were all loud and lively. Luhrmann is also popular for his films which include Moulin Rouge, Australia and The Great Gatsby.
The Get Down recognizes the hip-hop beat, which is more popularly known as the ?get down.? The series displays originality which is the fruit of extreme borrowing, sampling and mixing.
According to critics, The Get Down is more successful than Vinyl in some regard. It?s the grit that gives it life, which could make it better than the latter.
Luhrmann and his team?s whimsical flourishes could also remind the viewers of the portraits by painter Kehinde Wiley. Both presents how hard streets could be transformed into a colourful burst of regal splendour.
The Get Down Soundtrack is already available for previews and downloads.
