Gears Of War: Speight Backed Off On His Statement About Reprising His Role In The Game

By on

UPDATE: Lester Speight backed off on his original statement. After responding ?Yup!? to a question about whether he?s received a call about reprising his role in the new Gears Of War game, Speight followed up with another tweet, saying, ?Let me clear up misunderstanding. I’m willing to reprise my roll [sic] as Cole Train but I HAVEN’T BEEN CONTACTED YET, STOP!!! NO MORE RUMORS!!!?

ORIGINAL STORY: The actor who voiced Augustus Cole, also known as ?Cole Train? in the previous Gears Of War game, Lester Speight said that he has been approached about reprising his role.
In a response to a twitter fan question, Lester announced that he?s going to reprise his role in the new Gears Of War game.

Lester did not share anything more than that. The only Gears Of War that we ?know of is the one being developed by Microsoft-owned Black Tusk Studios.

The latest news we?ve heard about the next Gears Of War is that the game was still in the “concept” phase.
The producer who worked on the previous Gears Of Wars titles, Rod Fergusson is leading the development of the project. Fergusson said earlier that now that Microsoft owns the IP, it can probably do a lot more with it. The producer also said that the company will try its best to stay true to the Gears Of War canon for its new game, but Fergusson made it clear that Black Tusk will not have any reservations about departing if it is just in the interest of fun.

Unless Lester has misspoken, or not, everyone is now aware that the game will feature at least one returning character.

If you have played the game, he?s one of those characters that is impossible to forget. But in case you haven?t, Cole Train is a former star in Thrashball. (Gears Of War?s football-like sport.) After the Emergence Day, when humans got assaulted by the Locusts, Cole joined the Marcus Fenix?s Gear delta squad.

There hasn?t been any release date announced or even a title for the new game, and Microsoft hasn?t showcased the new Gears Of War game at E3 last June.
