Recently, the next Gears of War 4 update was confirmed on its official forums. The update will have many new content additions and improvements, and the developers might call it the game’s “Season 2” update. More than new content, fans are interested to see an improvement on its quitter punishment system. Here’s what we know so far about the major Gears of War 4 update.
Season 2 Gears of War 4 Update
As posted on the official Gears of War forums, a large update will be arriving soon in Gears of War 4. So far, improvements to the quitter penalty and spectator mode have been confirmed for the major patch. A “massive drop” of craftable card content is also expected in the update. New weapon and character skins have also been confirmed. However, the post didn’t mention a solid release date, but the details will be known soon.
Quitting in Gears of War 4
In Gears of War 4, players can quit in the middle of the matches. The Coalition included a system that’ll allow players to invite any of their online friends to fill in the empty slot and continue the fight. However, this system doesn’t always save people from empty player slots due to disconnection. Lastly, the game doesn’t have a penalty that discourages players from intentionally quitting. Fans are hoping that this Gears of War Season 2 anti-quitter system works to prevent hampering the overall game experience.
Gears of War 4 Multiplayer So Far
Currently, the Gears of War Reddit has been searching for an “eSports correspondent” for the game. At best, the game is aiming to establish itself as an eSport. However, the game’s community growth might be hampered if the community keeps shooting itself in the foot by quitting in matches. Regardless if it’s done in competitive or casual games, a missing player breaks the game’s intended balance. Broken multiplayer games are unhealthy for both competitive and casual players. Until a fix is included in a future Gears of War 4 update, the fans may have to hang in there or push another community initiative themselves.
