Gamescom 2016 Update: Microsoft to Skip Presscon this Year

By on

It was a subtle announcement, in fact, it wasn?t the main topic when general manager for Xbox Games Marketing, Aaron Greenberg, announced on the Xbox Official website that Microsoft will not hold a press conference at the upcoming Gamescom 2016 happening from August 17 to 21 at the Cologne Convention Center in Cologne, Germany.

In a few weeks time, gamers will be able to enjoy everything they need and want to know about upcoming games, new consoles and the VR platform, but this time around, it?s the absence of Microsoft in the panel that might highlight the show.

Greenberg, however, is happy to announce that the upcoming Gamescom 2016 will significantly give players the opportunity to test the latest games on the XBox One and the hands-on experience to new titles such as ?Sea of Thieves,? ?Gears of War 4,? ?Halo Wars 2,? ?ReCore? and ?Forza Horizon 3.?

Also, a new location for the Microsoft booth has been revealed and it?s on Hall 8 of the Koelnmesse, near the North entrance. And, because Microsoft will not host any media briefing during the Gamescom 2016, the giant tech company will instead host an intimate Xbox FanFest experience for their fans across the globe who will attend the Gamescom 2016.

In the statement issued on the Xbox website, Greenberg pointed out their big E3 2016 opening and hints that what they?ve discussed during the event is more than enough to satisfy fans with what they need to know about Microsoft?s latest innovation.

Gamescom 2016, for Microsoft, will be something of a support event to what has already been revealed during the E3 2016 wherein some of the main topics discussed include Xbox One devices, Xbox Live features, Xbox One and Windows 10 and the Xbox Play Anywhere.

Meanwhile, the Xbox booth at the upcoming Gamescom 2016 will have the following event schedules:

  • Wednesday, August 17 ? 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. CEST (press/trade only day)
  • Thursday, August 18 and Friday, August 19 ? 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. CEST
  • Saturday, August 20 ? 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. CEST
  • Sunday, August 21 ? 9 a.m. until 6 p.m. CEST
