“Game of Thrones? season 6 has came to an end, the finale was televised on Sunday. It is rumored that the season 7 will be based on new book ?The Winds Of Winter?. However, the book is still unfinished.

According to Vanity Fair, ?Game Of Thrones? season 6 was quite relevant to some older stories of The Song Of Ice. If George R. R. Martin finishes ?The Winds of Winter? before 2017, the show will most probably adopt the story of the book.

On the other hand, reports indicate that Martin is writing the last chapter of ?The Winds Of Winter.? Recently, he has revealed the new chapter of the book. He will most probably finish the book before the season 7 of the ?Game of Thrones?.

However, the series will not end according to the book as Martin is expected to finish the final installment of ?The Song Of The Ice and Fire? in time. Martin has taken at least five years to complete each book of the series. Hence, the final episode would not be released before 2022.

Times has reported that there will only be two more seasons left of ?Game of Thrones?, and they could be only seven episodes each.

In an interview with Deadline, showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss explained that they are planning the end since they first adopted the story from ?The Song Of Ice And Fire.? After the end of season 6 finale, the show has entered its final stage and upcoming seasons will cut the loose ends.

?We?ve known the end for quite some time and we?re hurtling towards it,? Benioff said. ?Those last images from the show that aired last night showed that. Daenerys is finally coming back to Westeros; Jon Snow is king of the North and Cersei is sitting on the Iron Throne. And we know the Night King is up there, waiting for all of them. The pieces are on the board now. Some of the pieces have been removed from the board and we are heading toward the end game.?
