Game Awards 2015: Who Will Replace Dragon Age Inquisition As Game Of The Year?

By on

The popular video game awarding event is back for its second year.

The second Game Awards will be held on December 3, 2015, this was announced by organizer and creator Geoff Keighley (who is also from Gametrailers.com) and the event will be streaming live at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

The Game Awards is more of an Oscars version or The Emmys version for video games, and it is a good way to acknowledge the developers who spent months to finish their masterpieces. During an interview with the New York Times, Geoff Keighley said that he is expecting around 4000 people to attend the event, compared to last year with 3500 attendees. The Game Awards will also be streamed to different platforms, including the PlayStation and Xbox consoles, Keighley is also expecting that the number of viewers will increase and will be able to exceed 2 million viewers who watched the event last year.

And for this year, Keighley noted that he will be brining Verizon as their major sponsor, along with other game publishers as part of the sponsors where they will be showcasing their latest games at the awards event. Keighley also revealed that he spent 1 million dollars of his own money to run the Game Awards last year in Las Vegas and despite having major game publishers as his sponsors, he still ended up losing money in the event. But despite losing large amount of money, he will still continue the Game Awards for this year.

Geoff Keighley once worked with Spike TV to host a game awards show for several years on Spike?s cable channel. But the event was downgraded on its final year at Spike, where it was turned into an online-only event called VGX 2013 which was hosted by Joel McHale. Though it was reported that Spike approached Keighly to handle the event again, Keighly declined and decided to create his own Game Awards.

The list of nominees for this year?s Game Awards will be revealed in mid-November, so watch this space for updates. Last year we saw Dragon Age Inquisition from Bioware bagging the Game of the Year, will Fallout 4, The Witcher 3 or Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain be the nominees for this year’s game of the year?
