Gambit’ Movie Loses Its Director, Movie Delayed?

By on

If rumors are anything to go by then, Gambit will most likely have a new director since a changing script caused the film’s budget to be larger than expected, and extending the shoot led to director Rupert Wyatt?s exit.

“I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project. I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.”

The movie project is an important one for the studio, which is hoping that it launches onto the screen as an important character as Hugh Jackman?s Wolverine, one of the lynchpins of the X-Men universe reported Hollywood Reporter.

The production on the film had already shifted from November this year to March 2016, and now Fox will be looking for another director. Wyatt–best known for bringing the Planet of the Apes franchise back to life with 2011’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes–blamed his exit on scheduling conflicts, states Gamespot.

However the report also states that his reason for exit could also be ongoing disagreements over both the script and budget for the movie.

Gambit is one of the Marvel properties owned by Fox, together with the X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool. Like Deadpool, Gambit is a character spun off from the X-Men, first appearing in a 1990 issue of The Uncanny X-Men.The movie will star Channing Tatum as the titular Cajun mutant.

No with the director moving out and the production going haywire, it will be difficult to say what the fate of the movie will be.

But let?s hope that Fox will soon find a replacement and the film will go on floors as planned.
