Yes, it is real and it is big, introducing Samsung?s Galaxy View tablet. Do you want to know how big the screen of the Samsung Galaxy View is? A whopping 18 inches, it is the same size that of an ordinary LED computer monitor, but Samsung is still crazy enough to launch a tablet with a large screen. Though the tablet is designed more for video streaming and it will be priced at $599 and is scheduled to release on November 6.
The Galaxy View will only have Wi-Fi connectivity with 32GB of internal storage and a microSD slot to expand the storage capacity. It will be powered by octa-core 1.6GHz processor, 2 GB or RAM, and will run from an Android 5.1.1 out of the box. It wireless feature can support 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1. Its 18-inche screen will support 1080p video resolutions, sorry no 4K resolution support yet. Reports say the tablet can last for around 8 hours with continuous video playback as it features a 5700mAh battery for a long lasting performance.
The giant tablet will have a kickstand that lets it stand on a table or desk while you watch your favorite series, however the back portion of the Galaxy View is not flat so it is not a great idea to lay it flat on a surface. It will also feature a custom home screen with video apps from the likes of Netflix, Hulu and YouTube. There are also apps from cable providers such as Time Warner Cable, Comcast and DirecTV, unfortunately you cannot customize with your favorite video apps such as Sling TV or HBO, but Samsung has address that they will update for additional apps on the video home screen, though you can still install your favorite video apps on the second home screen.
With Samsung being serious on the idea of a large tablet, expect some of its competitors to follow as well.
