Samsung?s current flagship, the Galaxy S5, has not been received very well by consumers. It now appears that the device maker is out to make up for it by releasing a successor with significantly improved design and features, the Galaxy S6.
The upcoming flagship model from the South Korean giant has been rumored a lot these past weeks. The hype can?t seem to slow down anytime soon as another leaked benchmark for the device surfaces online.
Highest AnTuTu score
This leak is actually an AnTuTu benchmark (of a model that?s widely believed as the Galaxy S6) that was spotted by MyDrivers.com. If you go through the data listed in it, you?ll see that the phone offers remarkable improvement over its predecessor. However, we should take this leak with a little grain of salt as Samsung is known to optimize their devices specifically for those benchmarking tools. You can check out the benchmark for the device here.
Having said those, the phone garnered an incredible 60,978 AnTuTu score; essentially overpassing the rating of all models ever released by Samsung. For reference, the current-gen Galaxy S5 only managed to score 46,557 points. Meanwhile, the device with the highest score on AnTuTu is also from Samsung, the Galaxy Alpha with 50,829 points.
Other specs revealed the benchmark includes the company?s own 2.1 GHz Exynos 7420 chipset with 3GB RAM, fueling rumors that Qualcomm and its Snapdragon SoC?s won?t be powering the next Samsung flagship. The device will aso be housing a Mali-T760 GPU, 20MP main camera and 5MP front snapper.
In a separate but completely related news, the device maker is also reportedly planning to launch two version of its 2015 flagship, the other being the Galaxy S6 Edge. This variant is expected to be equipped with a display with three sides, like the Galaxy Note Edge but with two curved edges. Bloomberg ?confirms? this rumor to be true, citing ?people with direct knowledge of the matter.? The Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are also pegged to sport an all-metal form factor, similar to the Galaxy Alpha unveiled last year.
All told, it seems that the Galaxy S6 is going to be the most interesting model launched by Samsung in a long time. We hope that these leaked AnTuTu specs can translate to real-world performance when the device finally hit store shelves. Samsung watchers believe that the Galaxy S6 and it curved brother will be launched on March 1 during the MWC event in Barcelona, Spain.
