The Tanners are finally returning tomorrow as Netflix?s reboot of popular family sitcom Fuller House season 2 debuts December 9. The first season left with many cliffhangers, such as D.J.?s love story, tensions between Kimmy and Fernando and season 2 will address all that.
DJ?s Relationship Gets Even Complicated
Jeff Franklin, the creator of the series, recently opened up to Variety about what we have to look forward to in the upcoming batch of episodes. He revealed that the D.J. love triangle will take an unexpected turn in the first episode itself.
In season 1, DJ Tanner was stuck between Steve (Scott Weigner), her high school sweetheart, and Matt (John Brotherton), her new business partner at the veterinary clinic where she works. The season finale ended with DJ picking herself rather than either of the men to settle down with, but they both will still be around for season 2.
?We come back and find out both Steve and Matt have gotten into other relationships while waiting for D.J. to make up her mind, so that?s how it starts,? Franklin said. Matt is reportedly dating a yoga instructor while Steve will be dating a woman named C.J. However, Franklin further added that DJ has decided who she wants to get into a relationship with and at the end of the season, her love story could see a happy ending.
Though the first season turned out to be sore for Kimmy and Fernando, the Fuller House season 2 will see their relationship build further. Kimmy and Fernando will definitely be together in season 2, according to series creator Franklin.
Kimmy Gibbler?s (Andrea Barber) brother, Jimmy (Adam Hagenbuch), will make an appearance. Though we don?t know much about Jimmy?s story, it appears he will be getting close to Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin). In the teaser trailer, he is seen kissing Stephanie.
Original Characters Return
Cast members and characters from the original show Full House will be making cameo appearances, according to PopSugar. Two main characters from DJ’s younger years slated to return in season 2 are Nelson Burkhard and Kathy Santoni. DJ will encounter these people from her past at a high school reunion.
Nelson is DJ?s ex-boyfriend and when they reunite, he will still be obnoxious and full of himself as always. Besides, a now-pregnant Kathy will continue to hit DJ with a whole bunch of snide comments. Originally played by Jason Marsden and Anne Marie McEvoy, the Netflix reboot has recast these characters. Hal Sparks is playing Nelson while it remains unknown who will be taking part as Kathy Santoni.
Another of D.J.?s old flames, Viper, is also returning for Fuller House season 2. David Lipper, who previously played Viper, confirmed that the production had contacted him to reprise his role.
On top of that, Stephanie?s friend Gia will be making a return. “We will see some fun faces from the past,” Franklin said. ?Gia will make an appearance — Stephanie’s trouble-making friend from her childhood, she’s coming back.?
However, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen will once again not be reprising their Full House role as Michelle Tanner. The sisters said they have moved on from acting and just like season 1, they won?t be there.
Season 2 of Fuller House is set to premiere on Netflix on December 9, 2016. Similar to the previous season, it is composed of 13 episodes.
