The upcoming video-game adaptation of the fluffy and cute possessed animatronics might be a real nightmarish entry on screen as Warner Bros. just hired Monster House and Poltergeist Director Gil Kenan to work on the Five Nights at Freddy’s Movie.
Warner Bros. has inked a deal with Poltergeist Director Gil Kenan to produce the online-sensation video-game adapted movie, Deadline reported. He will be writing the script along with Tyler Burton Smith.
The Fight Nights at Freddy’s movie?was revealed back in April by The Hollywood Reporter, announcing that the adaptation would be produced by Roy Lee of Vertigo Entertainment, Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg of KatzSmith Productions.
If the movie will be based heavily on the video game, then the story will be?about a security guard?surviving for five nights in a demented pizza entertainment restaurant where homicidal, possessed animatronics roam the halls in search of their next victims. The movie however will be a completely different experience if they feature the latest game, Five Nights at Freddy’s 4, which pits a child being haunted by the animatronics in her bedroom.
Hopefully Five Nights at Freddy’s movie?stars cast from the Poltergeist such as Sam Rockwell, Rosemarie DeWitt, and Jared Harris to make the movie an authentic nightmarish experience.?If the movie decides to go with FN4s story, Poltergeist’s?Kennedi Clements can be casted.
?The story really lends itself to being a movie and it taps into a largely unexplored niche of horror that lot of people will be able to relate to,? Five Nights at Freddy?s creator Scott Cawthon previously told THR.
The first Five Nights at Freddy?s game received average reviews from critics, but they slammed the succeeding iterations as numerous sequels were released within a short span of time while not bringing enjoyable new features on the table, making Fight Nights at Freddy’s feel like a repetitive game.
The game became popular as it was one of the few horror games that children could enjoy to play unless they had a heart condition. The game was also easily sharable as people were interested to see their friends get spooked by a cute looking stuffed toy. Dozens of YouTubers and Twitch users also capitalized on the game as people enjoyed seeing grown men be reduced to screaming women whenever a jump scare came their way.
