Five Nights at Freddy’s mobile games have been confirmed to not work on the latest Apple iOS version. So far, only one Five Nights at Freddy’s game is confirmed to work on the new iOS 11 firmware version. Here’s what we know about this issue on Apple devices.
Not Working For iOS 11
According to RyanTV’s thread on the Five Nights at Freddy’s subreddit, the Five Nights at Freddy’s mobile versions don’t work on iOS 11. 9To5Mac reported that the iOS 11 preview version is currently available through the Apple Developer Software and will be released to the public later this month. Five Nights at Freddy’s fans should avoid the update until this issue is fixed.
The Single Game That Works
Only the most recent Five Nights at Freddy’s Sister Location is confirmed to be compatible for iOS 11. However, playing the older games starting from the first to fourth FNaF might be impossible on this iOS version.
Technically, Five Nights at Freddy’s 4 have been released for at least two generations behind Sister Location. At best, iOS 10 should be the optimal Apple version for playing previous Five Nights at Freddy’s games on mobile.
Scott Cawthon’s Work
Currently, Five Nights at Freddy’s creator Scott Cawthon is working with Blumhouse Productions in making the Five Nights at Freddy’s movie. Details about the movie are still blurry but it’s been confirmed that Cawthon will be an ever-present creative force during the movie’s production. Cawthon has barely announced any new content, game, or update to the Five Nights at Freddy’s games since he started working on the movie.
Due to Cawthon’s focus on the film, a fix for this Five Nights at Freddy’s incompatibility issues may not happen anytime soon. It doesn’t help that Cawthon barely appears on the Five Nights at Freddy’s Steam Discussion and subreddit as of late.
Fixing the Issue
Reddit User GBAura explains that the issue isn’t in Cawthon’s game but in Clickteam’s game engine, which is Cawthon’s choice game engine. 32-bit format games won’t work on the iOS 11 version anymore as it updates the unit to 64-bit. Potentially, the fix may come in as a new mobile ports for these games. However, Cawthon might not be able to make a quick fix for the title as he is working on the movie at the moment. Apple fans might have to rely on workarounds until Cawthon pushes out the next update.
