From mobile devices to web browsing exploits, technology apparently isn?t safe for anyone to use anymore as vulnerabilities are found more and more. The company?recently posted in their Mozilla Security Blog, a discovered exploit from a user of the web browser. The user informed Mozilla about an advertisement on a news site in Russia that was ?serving a Firefox exploit that searched for sensitive files and uploaded them to a server that appears to be in Ukraine.?

?The vulnerability comes from the interaction of the mechanism that enforces JavaScript context separation and Firefox?s PDF Viewer,? posted Daniel Veditz from Mozilla?s blog. ?Mozilla products that don?t contain the PDF Viewer, such as Firefox for Android, are not vulnerable,? he added.

Veditz was startled to recognize that it was looking for developer focused files for an exploit thrown into a general audience news site. ?Though of course we don?t know where else the malicious ad might have been deployed,? he added.

How to Fix

Mozilla released security updates that contained the fixes for the vulnerability. According to the blog, every user is advised to update their web browser to Firefox 39.0.3. This update will help repair Firefox users who may have encountered the problem.

How to Avoid

?People who use ad-blocking software may have been protected from this exploit depending on the software and specific filters being used,? according to the blog. This means that there is a better chance to avoid the vulnerabilities facing Firefox if the users active the ad-blocking program. Also, users who continually update their browsers will have a lesser chance of experiencing problems.

Security hacks and vulnerabilities are slowly inching their way into creating a disaster that may stop technology companies from gaining the trusts from their users but with errors come the ability to make a more improved version that will surely make any company better and exceptional at what they do.
