In a surprising turn of events, Nintendo has now created a blockbuster video game in a very short period of time. According to Venture Beat, Fire Emblem Fates sold at least 400,000 copies in the U.S. in just nine days, making it the third best selling game across all platforms.
The number of copies sold however, is a combination of all three Fire Emblem Fates series, mainly Birthright, Conquest, and the Special Edition. Among the three, Fire Emblem Fates: Birthright currently holds a spot on the Top 10 Software Sales.
In a Reddit post, Nintendo of America?s Executive Vice President of Sales & Marketing Scott Moffitt said, ?Both fans and critics are falling for Fire Emblem Fates, and the early sales numbers prove the game?s undeniable appeal. This strong momentum for Nintendo 3DS is only the beginning, as many more high-quality exclusive games are set to launch for the hand-held system over the next few months.?
In February 19, the first DLC map for the Fire Emblem Fates was released. It is followed by a weekly DLC that is set to run until the 21st of April. Since the release of Fire Emblem Fate?s DLC maps comes regularly at short intervals, an offer of Map Pack 1 DLC for the amount of $17.99 is also available for hardcore fans.
The Map Pack includes 11 different maps and additional content, this is said to be much cheaper than purchasing each map whenever they are made available. The Fire Emblem Fates DLC was accompanied by several other Nintendo games in the eShop launching. Among the other games included were Pokemon, Bravely Second: End Layer, Dragon Quest VII: Fragments of the Forgotten Past and Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King.
