‘Final Fantasy III’ PC Port from DS Hits Steam. Remake? Again?

By on

Final Fantasy already had 14 entries to its ?used-to-be? strong series, along with numerous spin-offs? and a number of remakes to tag along. This time, the highly acclaimed Final Fantasy III will make its way to the PC. It already had a number of remakes to boot with, and this time, it will be available for PC gamers through Steam.?

Here?s how Square-Enix describes this ?new? port for the PC, which will be made available on Steam later:

??Previously released on a myriad of platforms, including the latest iOS and Android versions, Final Fantasy III is officially making its way to Steam! The exact release date will be announced later, but we can confirm that this version will come with additional features including Steam Achievements and Trading cards along with the following:?

  • New and improved 3D visuals and story sequences
  • Quicker browsing through the monster bestiary and other game record
  • New visual designs for the Job Mastery Cards
  • Upgraded graphics
  • Achievements
  • New feature of Steam Trading Cards

This may sound like good news for most people who have missed the opportunity in playing the original game (Final Fantasy III was never released on the western shores), however, for others, a 5th remake of the game is pushing it too much? It had a port for Nintendo DS back in 2004, then it got ported to mobile platforms. Starting off with iOS, then Android. Come 2012, it got ported again on the PlayStation Portable this time. In the same year, it got a remake for Kindle Fire. In 2013, it finally got a port for Windows Phone and OUYA.

Some people might think that they aren?t getting enough ?of Final Fantasy III, so apparently, getting them on practically EVERY device they can imagine, will soothe this longing. This isn?t the same with others.

What are your thoughts about this? Is it going to be better if Square-Enix, instead, releases other Final Fantasy games on the PC, and actually listen to their fans? Anybody fancies Final Fantasy IX or a remake of ?the less popular, Final Fantasy VI?
