Final Fantasy 7 Remake Release Date: Late 2017 Launch Confirmed By Amazon?

By on

This might have been obvious, but it seems like the first part of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake will be released sometime in 2017. Most fans had assumed this, since the game coming out in 2016 would have been too good to be true, and it does seem like Square Enix is dedicated to bring the remake next year.

According to some Reddit users, Amazon emailed them about their pre-orders of the game. The date was originally December 2016, but it has now been changed to December 2017. Fans who are familiar with Amazon know that December is usually a placeholder date unless the publisher specifically states that the product is coming out in that month. Until Square Enix announces an actual release date, it seems like this will be a placeholder date until the real deal.

Still, considering how many years the Final Fantasy 7 Remake has been in development, it wouldn’t be a huge surprise if the game was released in December. Fans have been patiently waiting for this remake, and releasing it in December would make it a perfect Christmas gift. Releasing it in 2017 is also a good move since that will mark the 30th anniversary of the original game’s release on the first PlayStation.

Fans already know that major changes have been made to make the game look more relevant. Cloud and Barret sport new attires and the battle system seems to have ditched the old turn-based formula in favor of real-time combat, which some fans will like. If the Platinum Demo of Final Fantasy 15 is any indication, the combat should be fun enough.

Square Enix recently re-released the original Final Fantasy 7 on PS4. The game is basically a port of the PC version, so it has slightly sharper textures, but the character models are still very blocky. It won’t look as good as the remake, that’s for sure.

Will the Final Fantasy 7 remake come out on the PS4 in December 2017? It’s not impossible. Should it come out on that date, fans can expect the Xbox One version to come out in 2018.
