Final Fantasy 7 Remake Gameplay: Battle System Will Still Focus On Strategy

By on

Numerous fans had mixed-feelings after seeing the new Final Fantasy 7 Remake gameplay trailer released at PlayStation Experience 2015. Unlike the original game which used a turned based ?Active Time Battle? system, the remake is now more action oriented similar to Final Fantasy 15, Kingdom Hearts, and?Crisis Core. Despite these changes, Square Enix has assured fans that the game will still focus on strategy.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake Gameplay

According to Final Fantasy 7 Remake producer Yoshinori Kitase, the game will not entirely be action-based as what fans think. ?I can?t say the new game is completely action-based, but it has more of the element and real-time than the previous game,? Kitase said per Siliconera (translated by Nova Crystallis).

?However, what makes Final Fantasy and RPG different from other games is that the players have the ability to choose weapons, capabilities, and magic to be strategic minded. So while the new game has more real-time element, it will also maintain that strategy building element, balancing these two factors perfectly to enhance the gaming experience.”

The development team of FF7 Remake is striving to make the game look similar to Advent Children especially as the PS4 is capable of rendering more polygons. ?The game is still in development, and we have not fully grasped all the abilities of and upgrades made to PlayStation 4,? Kitase said. ?The graphics are superb on PlayStation 4, and more polygon volume is available to make it better.?

?The way we harnessed the power of the PlayStation 4 was to maintain the graphic quality of characters like Cloud, Tifa, and Aerith in the movie called Advent Children in our game, and this as the starting point. So, what we?re aiming for with the Final Fantasy 7 Remake is to have the same quality of these characters in real-time while playing the game, and this is only achievable with PlayStation 4.?

Square Enix has yet to announce the Final Fantasy 7 Remake release date. It has yet to be revealed if the game will be exclusively available for the PS4 or if it will be coming to PC and Xbox One as well.
