Those looking for an excellent JRPG to play sometime soon have a lot to be excited about with Square Enix’s remake of Final Fantasy 7. The game is shaping up to be way different from the original title and Square Enix changed a lot gameplay-wise. New screenshots for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake appeared online and it’s obvious that the game is deeply inspired by another one of Square Enix’s titles.
Recently, screenshots for the upcoming Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Kingdom Hearts 3 were shared by game director Tetsuya Nomura at Magic 2017. The new screenshots reveal more than just what fans should expect from the upcoming titles, but they also showed off similarities between the two. It seems like fans of Kingdom Hearts won’t have a tough time adjusting to the upcoming remake.

From the UIs of the two titles, it’s obvious that Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s UI is inspired deeply by the Kingdom Hearts series. On the right of the screen lie the health bar and other status values of the party members. This is also the same setup with Kingdom Hearts, but instead of a bar, players will be given solid values in the remake.
On the far left are the commands that Cloud and company can do. Players can choose Attack, Materia, Item, and Magic. Again, it’s an identical setup with Kingdom Hearts. Moreover, those who’ve played Final Fantasy 7: Crisis Core on the PSP should also be familiar with the UI’s setup.
From the looks of things, we can’t confirm yet if players are able to control anyone aside from Cloud. In the original title, players are able to select the actions for Barret, Tifa, Aerith, Red XIII, Caith Sith, Yuffie, and Vincent. There’s a chance that players will only be able to control Cloud, like how Sora is the only controllable character in Kingdom Hearts. Also, Noctis was the only playable character the most recent entry in the Final Fantasy series.
Up to now, we’ve yet to hear anything about the release date of the first episode of Final Fantasy 7 Remake. The next E3 marks the second year since the remake was unveiled to the public. Hopefully, Square Enix have some big news for us at E3 2017. The first episode will revolve around the start of the journey in Midgar. It’s likely that it will end when Cloud and company finally step out of Midgar.
