It looks like the gameplay of Final Fantasy 15 will not be a regular hack-n-slash RPG affair. The developers of the game said players would be able to target a foe?s body parts to incapacitate them. A gameplay feature from a past Final Fantasy title will also be making a return in FF15 to give flexibility in a player?s playstyle.
Final Fantasy 15 Gameplay: Target Specific Body Parts
According to FF15 lead game designer Prasertvithyakam Prasert, players will be able to target specific body parts of large enemies to hit them at their weak spots, Pixeldynamo reported. Targeting a foes specific body part can also cripple the enemy, Prasert said.
?There is a gameplay mechanic where you can debilitate enemies by destroying parts of their anatomy and it plays an important role in battle. It is possible to make these kinds of attacks against specific areas on gigantic monsters by either striking them directly using the warp ability or by positioning yourself by the enemy?s vulnerable spots using parrying actions against their attacks.?
It is unsure yet if players will be able to climb gigantic monsters like in Dragon?s Dogma. Climbing monsters, however, looks to be more burdensome for protagonist Noctis because he already has a warp ability.
FF12 Gambit System
The developers have revealed that FF 15 will enable players to choose Noctis and his comrades? battle style. ?We have created a system for FFXV where the player can decide the battle style that they and their comrades use, although this takes a different form to the gambits in FFXII,? Prasert said. ??This will be revealed at some point in the future so look out for further information.?
Final Fantasy 15 will be released sometime in 2016 for the PS4 and Xbox One. FF15 will have a simultaneous worldwide release. The developers are now making a new demo for the game and they plan on releasing airships and underwater combat via DLC.
