FIFA 15 for PC to Run on EA Sports Ignite Engine

By on

Electronic Arts has announced that their next generation engine for sports games, EA Sports Ignite, will be coming to the PC. The debut for the Windows PC will come with FIFA 15.

The Ignite engine was announced during the Xbox One reveal event last May 2013. It is the technology that powers all of EA?s sports games for the PlayStation 4 as well as the Xbox One. For the previous version of the game, FIFA 14, the Xbox and PlayStation versions used the Ignite engine while the PC version did not. The PC game was released alongside the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 versions in late September. By having FIFA 15 for the PC run on the Ignite engine, the main developer, EA Canada, can maintain the same level of features across the new generation consoles as well as the PC.

The main reason that the Ignite engine didn?t come to the PC together with the consoles was because it was specifically designed for the static hardware architectures of the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4. It was reiterated that PC support was possible in the future but that it wasn?t likely to arrive anytime soon.

According to Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, he mentioned that: ?There needs to be some adjustment in terms of how EA Sports Ignite works to facilitate the open nature of PC architecture, rather than the closed nature of console architecture?. This means a lot of work and EA has outdone themselves as this news is both unexpected and welcomed.

An announcement is expected to be made on June 9 regarding the game. The announcement will be made at EA?s E3 Press Conference.
