Fate Grand Order anime trailer got fans super excited as they got a glimpse of what the game is really like. This new mobile game from Sony Corp is expected to compete with Pokemon GO by Nintendo. Fate Grand Order is based on the anime television series that has been very close at the peak of the app rankings revenue wise. We’re talking about the whole year of 2016 in Japan.

According to Bloomberg, Fate Grand Order came from the anime series Fate. In here, gamers can travel back in time and team up with historical characters such as Julius Caesar, Joan of Arc and Leonardo da Vinci. The basic version of the game is free, but users can buy tokens that will make it more convenient to boost gameplay or add characters. Sales have been up in Japan the past year. It’s been downloaded more than 7 million times since it was launched back in July of 2015. It even made more money than Pokemon GO in comparison with Android users in the 104 out of 133 days in the past year. While Pokemon GO had better reception with iOS users. It raked in more revenues in 82 out of 133 days of the same period.

Mobile Games Expansion

Meanwhile, Damian Thong, a Macquarie Group Ltd. analyst in Tokyo, said that they’re spending more than Pokemon GO did per gamenguide.com. Additionally, the level of engagement and intensity of Fate Grand Order is much higher. Sony Chief Financial Officer Kenichiro Yoshida also said that Fate Grand Order continuously contribute to the music division.

It reportedly improved Sony Music’s operating profit by 23 percent to $145 million. This made their revenue go up by 8 percent to $1.3 billion. This just proves how vital the success of Fate Grand Order is to Sony’s Gaming and Entertainment business. Thus, Sony has plans of expanding the company’s efforts in mobile games by coming up with more titles to offer in various markets come 2017.
