The Fargo Season 3 cast welcomes The Leftovers star Carrie Coon who will be joining Ewan McGregor in the lead role.
Production for the third season of the FX series is set to begin later this year with its target premiere date set sometime in 2017.
Coon is currently filming the third and final season of the rapture drama from HBO in Australia and has been tapped to be the leading lady opposite McGregor in Fargo. According to TV Line, Coon will play the role of Gloria Burgle, the chief of police at Eden Valley, who is also a newly divorced mother. She will be struggling to understand why people around her are more intimately connected with their phones rather than the actual people right in front of them. She is also described as ?a practical woman who grabs the fire extinguisher when the bacon catches fire and everyone else panics.?
Coon has won a Critics? Choice Award for best actress in a drama for The Leftovers 2015 and has been nominated for the same award in 2014. She has also starred in Gone Girl and the upcoming thriller, The Keeping Hours.
Meanwhile, McGregor will take on double roles of brothers Emmit and Ray Stussy. The older brother, Emmit, is a good-looking, confident, real estate magnate a.k.a the Parking Lot of Minnesota. While the younger brother, Ray, is a flabby parole officer who has this belief that his older brother is somewhat responsible for his sorry state of affairs.
Moreover, the setting of the third season of the Emmy-winning anthology series will be set closer to the present day as compared to the first two seasons. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the third season is rumored to take place in 2010, following the events of the first season. Though it is not yet certain how the events of the upcoming installment will tie in with the first run.
Series creator and showrunner Noah Hawley told the publication in December that none of the main characters from the first season will return in their third run.
