The latest Far Cry 5 trailer now reveals more details on several of its elements, including wildlife, the huge expanse of characters, and how co-op gameplay works. More of an informative video than an actual trailer, the clip features Dan Hay and Philippe Fournier, the game’s Creative Director and Associate Producer, respectively. The two detail how the huge variety of characters in the game comes with a selection of jobs that work in the its world.
“Everybody has a job,” says Hay on the game’s selection of characters. “Everybody has a purpose. Everybody has an opinion, and everybody wants to contribute to you fighting back.”
Far Cry 5 Trailer Shows Off Co-Op Gameplay
So how does co-op work this time around? As the video shows, co-op gameplay operates similarly to how it played out in the title’s predecessor, Far Cry 4. This means that players can take joy in pursuing different activities simultaneously. As Fournier explains, one player can continue flying up in the air if they choose to do so while another player can opt to operate a vehicle on land. Ultimately, such a feature makes for quite the dynamic gaming experience.
Like most entries in the Far Cry franchise, wildlife remains to be a huge element in the upcoming title. This can range from the likes of wild bears, wolverines, and even peacocks. However, this time around, players will be able to actually tame wild animals thanks to the “Fangs for Hire” system. With this, players can have tamed wildlife assist them in combat. Such an approach was previously shown in 2016’s Far Cry Primal. Furthermore, a fishing mechanic will reportedly be brought in for the game.
What is Far Cry?
For the uninitiated, Far Cry is Ubisoft’s first-person shooter video game series that first emerged in 2004. Though titles under the series do not share the same narrative, they do feature similar elements. Essentially, Far Cry games involve having players survive in a wilderness environment as they fight against tyrants that have taken control of a region within the game’s fictional society and land. While previous Far Cry installments started off with single-player campaigns, later entries offered co-op campaign support and even competitive multiplayer options as the franchise grew.
Far Cry 5 is the fifth main entry and eleventh overall installment in the franchise. It is set in the fictional Hope County, Montana. The game is slated to see a release on March 27.
