Korean boy band EXO dominates the music charts with their new album, ?EX?ACT? which was released last June 9. After a few days from the album debut, South Korea?s top boy band still continues to reign the music charts.
According to Soompi, as of morning of June 12, the K-pop group occupies the top spot on music charts including Genie, MelOn, and BugS. In MelOn, the largest domestic music website, the songs from the new album unbelievably swept the chart, filling in first place all the way to ninth place.
On the same day of release of ?EX?ACT,? the boyband immediately made a comeback performance on the show, M! Countdown. Their album, composed of 11 tracks, also includes double title tracks, ?Monster? and ?Lucky One,? which they performed on the show. Other K-pop stars that graced the stage were Luna, Lovelyz, MAP6, SS301, U-KISS, EXID, Shin Ji Hoon, Jung Dong Ha, FIESTAR, and more.
Reuters reports that according to S.M. Entertainment, the group?s management agency, 660,180 copies of the new album have been pre-ordered, including the Mandarin version which totalled 217,290 pre-orders. ?EX?ACT? is the third full-length album of the boyband and the agency added that the two previous albums have sold over one million copies.
Aside from topping music chart after music chart and selling millions of records worldwide, South Korea?s top boy band has again proved the ?Monster? that they are with the release of the music video of their title track, ?Monster.? According to SBS the boy band managed to break records with the new music video, racking up a whopping 4.5 million views just 24 hours after its release!
This record tops the previous 4.1 million 24-hour record set by Carly Rae Jepsen?s ?Call Me Maybe? MV. This new achievement makes EXO the first-ever K-pop group to set such a record.
