After what appeared to be an endless wait, Evangelion Movie 4 is finally in the works. Animation director Takeshi Honda recently confirmed the news, simply stating ?We’re actually working on the new Evangelion film right now.?
This is certainly a refreshing news for several devoted fans. News about Evangelion Movie 4?s cancellation previously flooded the internet and fans were not happy. Now, Evangelion fans can hold on to the fact that the film will push through. Honda assured fans that they are working hard and that Evangelion Movie 4 will eventually come. Honda also expressed gratitude to all the fans for their patience.
Furthermore, the animation director expressed his hopes that Evangelion will end properly before he retires. He also mentioned that getting older makes drawing more challenging for him.

Evangelion Movie 4 Production
Director Hideaki Anno stated back in July that he felt he could return to Evangelion after the filming for Shin Godzilla wrapped up. He also mentioned that there might be a four to six year gap between the third and fourth films.
In 2012, it was announced that the title for the final Evangelion film is Evangelion Shin Gekij?ban :||, or Evangelion: 3.0+1.0. According to Anime News Network, the “:||” at the end of the Japanese title is meant to be the symbol used in music to denote repetition after reaching the end of a measure.
The first three films are the following:
Evangelion: 1.0 You Are [Not] Alone
Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance
Evangelion: 3.0 You Can (Not) Redo
The aforementioned films debuted in 2007, 2009 and 2012, respectively.
