Disney’s animated film “Encanto” recently won the Golden Globe Award for Best Animated Feature Film – and we really aren’t surprised. The music was created by Lin Manuel-Miranda, creator of the Broadway hits In the Heights and Hamilton. The movie touches on topics of love, family, and self-discovery. And we are so in love with the vibrant aesthetics!

As much as we loved the colorful traditional costumes fashioned by the Madrigal family, however, we couldn’t help but wonder how we could bring that style into our everyday lives in the modern era. Here are some of our ideas.

Julieta Madrigal

Julieta Madrigal is the eldest daughter of Alma and Pedro Madrigal. She has the gift of cooking food that heals. As a caring mother, she would look great in this Opposites Abstract Faux-Wrap Dress!

Julieta could wear this at brunch or any gathering featuring none other than her delicious home-cooked comfort food.

Pepa Madrigal

Pepa Madrigal is Julieta’s sister, who is described as “overly emotional”. Her gift allows her to control the weather… but this generally depends on her mood. The Slice Of Rainbow Fit and Flare Dress is sure to always brighten up her mood and also serves as a great reminder that there’s always a rainbow after the rain.

Aside from the beauty after the storm, a rainbow also stands for inclusivity and diversity, which is what really makes this A-line dress up-to-date.

Dolores Madrigal

Dolores Madrigal is the only daughter of Pepa and Felix. She “knows everyone’s dirt” because of her gift of enhanced hearing. Dolores has a shy personality but deep down, she is loving and caring. That’s why The Prettiest Present Swing Dress would suit her well!

This romantic red satin dress has a cute bow-tie applique that is flattering and chic – perfect for a sweetheart like Dolores.

Isabela Madrigal

Isabela Madrigal is the eldest daughter of Julieta and Agustin. Dubbed as the “golden child”, her gift is the power to conjure beautiful flowers and plants. With her grace and beauty, the Ruffling For Flowers Midi Dress is perfect for her style.

This dress features a prairie-inspired floral print consisting of purple, blue, yellow, and grey hues that are scattered all over it–just like how Isabela generously shares her wonderful gift with the entire family and their community.

Luisa Madrigal

Luisa Madrigal is the middle child of Julieta and Agustin. With her gift of super-strength, she is described as the “rock” of the family. For the strong independent women of today, this Best of Luxe Satin Halter Dress is perfect!

Boss babes like Luisa who handle multiple projects every working day will slay in this navy halter dress in the office. It is elegant, feminine, and powerful. Periodt!

Mirabel Madrigal

Mirabel Madrigal is the youngest sister of Isabela and Luisa; but unlike them, she has no gift. Despite this, the heroine genuinely loves her entire family. The Handfuls of Happiness Maxi Dress matches her free spirit and optimistic demeanor!

This retro-chic dress features a lush print in shades of blue, green, red, and orange on a teal background.

Alma Madrigal (Abuela)

Alma Madrigal, also called “abuela” (grandmother in Spanish), is the matriarch of the Madrigals and the head of their enchanted village. To update her style while still keeping things conservative, we chose the Let Me Double-Check Maxi Dress for her! This maxi dress features a checkered pattern on a lightweight fabric with long sheer sleeves, a square neck, and an A-line skirt.

Finish off this look with a cardigan and a pair of combat boots!
