EA Sports is probably busy with creating the next UFC game which is set to launch next year. The upcoming title is expected to bring in a slew of new features and improvements to make it standout from the previous entry. Aside from this, there’s so much more to expect from the upcoming EA Sports UFC 3.
EA Sports is planning a bi-annual release for the UFC games and as per the company’s earnings call, UFC 3 is scheduled for an early 2018 release. While players are waiting for the full reveal of the next game, fans are also very eager to see the reveal of the EA Sports UFC 3 cover athletes. There are a ton of athletes viable for the position and it’s sort of easy to predict who the cover athlete could be.
The UFC’s undefeated women’s strawweight champion is one of the fastest rising stars in the promotion. While not as popular as former UFC cover athlete Ronda Rousey, Jedrzejczyk definitely makes up for it with her skill. She’s deserving of the position as she’s currently one of the most dominant figures in the sport.
The newly crowned bantamweight champion Cody “No Love” Garbrant is getting more and more attention from the MMA community. The up and coming fighter from Team Alpha Male managed to beat the seemingly unbeatable Dominick Cruz single-handedly. Aside from his skill, Garbrant’s rowdy personality has surely earned him a spot in the hearts of fans.
Stipe Miocic is perhaps one of the best heavyweights the UFC has ever seen. He’s one of the very select heavyweight titleholders who has managed to defend the belt. He managed to do this twice already. In terms of what he has done for the promotion, Miocic is more than deserving of the spot on the cover of UFC 3.
While Holly Holm dethroned Ronday Rousey of her belt, it’s Amanda Nunez’s victory over the first female UFC champion that’s more memorable. Nunez made short work of Rousey in their match. Moreover, Nunez is the first openly gay champion in MMA history and that makes her more deserving of the spot in the UFC 3 cover.
Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson is the no.1 pound for pound fighter in the current UFC roster and many consider him as one of the best fighters in the world. Unknown to many is that Johnson is an avid gamer and a streamer of Dark Souls. However, with his recent issue against the UFC and the unfair treatment he has been getting, it makes him very unlikely to get the position.
In the past games, EA Sports brought in two cover athletes. For the first UFC game, the cover athletes were Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafson. For UFC 2, the covers were Conor Mcgregor and Ronda Rousey. It’s very likely that we’ll be seeing two cover athletes yet again.
The position might not actually be too coveted as the past athletes have been affected by the mythical EA cover curse before. Jon Jones had a fallout with drug related issues after being the cover athlete. On the other hand, Alexander Gustafson suffered a devastating knockout loss in front of his hometown.
Ronda Rousey lost to Holly Holm after being revealed that she was the cover athlete of UFC 2. Conor McGregor then suffered his first UFC loss to Nate Diaz after starring UFC 2. Whoever the cover athletes of EA Sports UFC 3 may be, it’s very likely that they’re going to take caution with their careers just in case the EA cover curse is indeed real.
