Dying Light developer Techland has enjoyed huge success with their freerunning zombie game. The developer reportedly sold over five million copies of the game, and the company seems very hopeful with the sequel. After delivering the hit game last year, Techland is aiming to create Dying Light 2.
There?s no doubt that the original Dying Light game also emerged from the same horror roots of the popular game Dead Island. These massive open-world zombie games have a lot in common in terms of exploration, theme and in-game opportunities.
In his interview with Videogamer, Techland producer Tymon Smektala revealed the company?s ideas about Dying Light 2. He noted that the game may be too ambitious for Xbox One and PS4. He said that Techland still needs to determine whether or not the current-generation consoles are capable of delivering the product.
In the interview, Smektala also shared that the team wants to check their concepts and make prototypes to make sure that what they are planning to deliver is doable. He said that Techland has a clear idea of where the Dying Light franchise will go.
These details sparked discussions among fans about the Dying Light release. When the developer was asked about the title?s progress on the game?s official Twitter account, the developer said that Dying Light 2?s release date is far off as the studio was busy at the time on making DLCs.
Meanwhile, PC Gamer reported that an email from Techland CEO Pawel Marchewka was sent to fans as he wanted to thank everyone for their support. In the said email, Marchewka promised that Techland will continue to support Dying Light at least till the end of the year.
Although the developer has not officially confirmed any detail about the sequel and no official statement has been made regarding the Dying Light 2 release date, based on what Marchewka said, it is possible that Dying Light 2 may release sometime in 2017. A 2016 release seems far-fetched as Techland said they will provide more unannounced content following the release of Dying Light The Following- Enhanced Edition.
