In their run for a third consecutive gold, Dream Team USA will look for another decisive victory against Venezuela come Monday night at the 2016 Rio Olympics tournament.
Team USA vs. Venezuela kicks off at 6 pm Eastern Standard Time, and the game will be broadcast by NBCSN. Live streaming is available via NBCOlympics.com. Basketball fans also have option to watch online through NBC Sports Live Extra or by using the NBC Sports Live Extra app for tablets and mobile devices.
The United States Men?s Basketball team routed China 119-62 in their opening match of their group play Saturday and look to maintain their winning run from Exhibition series. The 57-point lead win comes as no surprise to US, as they dominated China in the previous two exhibition games, when they won by 49 and then 50 points, respectively.
USA was led by Kevin Durant, who scored 25 points, and DeMarcus Cousins with his 17 point, five-rebound performance. Former NBA player Yi Jianlian was the high scorer for China with 25 points to go along with 5 rebounds and a block.
On the other hand, Venezuela lost their opening game in Group A play against Serbia on Saturday. Gregory Echenique and Jose Vargas led Venezuela with 12 points each in their 86-62 loss. Venezuela, who is probably the weakest competition of the Olympic basketball play, shot just 37 percent from the field against Serbia and made just 4-of-22 from 3-point range.
Against Venezuela, USA?s dream team will have to up its offensive end as during the last month?s exhibition slate, they gave their worst shooting performance from the field (42.4 percent) and outside the arc (16.0). Although USA won 80-45, totaling by far their lowest scoring output of the exhibitions, it was only their great defensive end performance that kept Venezuela. USA will have to keep their defense tight as a cornered Venezuela would like to give a tougher fight.
