Drake busts out his acting chops once again with the anticipated short film Please Forgive Me. The rapper?s film, which loosely accompanies his last album Views, was released via Apple Music early Monday morning.
The 1993 drama?Indecent Proposal has heavily inspired the short film.?The lead actress is played by Belgian model Fanny Neguesha. As with its predecessor, a millionaire coaxes the female lead with $1 million in order to spend the night with him.
Instead of clean negotiations though, Drake, his girl and associate Popcaan take out the liaison at the rendezvous point. They then keep the cash for themselves.
When Drake goes to return the money to the crime boss, all hell breaks loose, which leads to a violent, explosive conclusion. ?
Two songs from the album Views are featured in the short as in-film music videos. First is Drake?s smash hit One Dance, which was used in a scene which takes place at a fiery dance party in Johannesburg. The other song, Controlla, has Neguesha dancing by her lonesome in the Namibian deserts.
Other tracks from the album featured in the film are Weston Road Flows, 9, Views and Summer?s Over Interlude.? Please Forgive Me also features music composed by Drake?s producer Noah ?40? Shebib. There?s also incidental music Colonial Mentality by Fela Kuti.
Please forgive me to reinvigorate album sales
The 20-minute action thriller is directed by Anthony Mandlerin. Drake can be seen wielding guns while wandering Johannesburg, South Africa.
Meanwhile, Drake?s album Views, has been a substantial success for the rapper. It held the No. 1 spot on Billboard 200 for 12 consecutive weeks after its release in April. Five months after album release, Please Forgive Me will likely reinvigorate album sales. So far, Views has sold more than 1.4 million copies in the US.
