There hasn’t been much said about the story of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. Most of the focus has been on the new characters and gameplay features. To be fair, the first game’s story wasn’t too impressive and was mostly done for fan service. It seems like the sequel will be similar, but with some interesting choices.
In the first game, the classic DBZ villains never interacted with the main antagonists. They would merely be pawns to the motivations of the real bad guys: Mira and Towa. However, the sequel looks to fix this by having Turles and Lord Slug as major villains for the game.
As seen in this video by Gamespot, Turles and Slug have partnered with Mira and Towa. It’s fairly unique and makes the villains feel more important. Most fans originally felt they were just filler villains from the films. It’s nice to see something interesting done with them, instead of just retelling the plot of the films with the player’s avatar.
One has to wonder?how many changes will be made to these characters. Fans already know that Lord Slug is a Super Namekian. Will Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 give Turles a Super Saiyan form? It would be a really interesting move if they do that. He’ll likely continue using fruit from the Tree of Might as a power-up though.
Seeing Turles and Slug in major roles might also mean other villains will align with Mira and Towa. While trailers seemed to have hint at only Turles and Slug, there could be more for fan service. It’s always a possibility.
It’s worth noting that Time Breaker Bardock appears to be under the control of Mira and Towa. Bardock is Goku’s father, so this could lead to a climactic battle between the two. That’s not yet confirmed of course, but never say never. Either way, the sequel seems to have a much improved storyline, even if it doesn’t have much depth.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is slated for an October 25 release. The game will be available on PS4 and Xbox One. PC fans can get the game on October 28. ?
