During the 2016 Anime Expo, publisher Bandai Namco unveiled the newest trailer to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. To the surprise of many, the trailer showed a ton of new gameplay footage that included a lot of new in-game mechanics that will please fans of the first game, as well as a proper release date: October 25 for North America and October 28 for Europe.
One of the best aspects revealed was that players will now be able to fly around Toki Toki City, the main hub of the game. There are also vehicles players can use to get around, in case they get bored of flying or see too many players doing it. Either way, both options are really nice to have and complement the style of Dragon Ball really well.
Players don?t appear to be limited to the city either, as the trailer takes players to Planet Namek and Frieza?s spaceship. We even see the player try out some super sentai poses with Captain Ginyu, hinting that players will be able to join the flamboyant group, or at least interact with them as part of Frieza?s army.
New characters from the movies are also seen in the trailer of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, like Janemba and Gogeta from the Fusion Reborn animated feature. We also see Cooler help his brother Frieza in the game, along with a team up between previously confirmed characters Turles and Lord Slug.
This makes the story of Xenoverse 2 much more interesting, since it really feels like history is being altered. The first game merely showed the villains winning in previous events where they lost, so seeing these characters appear in events they are not supposed to be in makes the story that much more intriguing.
And in grand fashion, the trailer ends with the player?s custom avatar turning into Super Saiyan 3, which will make plenty of fans happy. The previous game only let players that chose the Saiyan class reach Super Saiyan 2, so it looks like there are going to be even more options than before to be extremely powerful. Maybe we will even see the new blue haired Super Saiyan forms from Dragon Ball Super.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will come to the PS4 and Xbox One on October 25 for the Americas and October 28 for Europe. The game will also get a worldwide PC release date on October 28.
